Taxonomy
Utahia carina was named by Muldoon and Gunnell (2002). Its type specimen is UM 103485, a mandible (left dentary with p4-m3 and alveolus for p3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is South Pass (Gardnerbuttean), which is in a Bridgerian fluvial-lacustrine shale/carbonate in the Wasatch Formation of Wyoming.
