Taxonomy
Utahia kayi was named by Gazin (1958). Its type specimen is C.M. No. 6488, a mandible (right ramus of mandible with P4-M3, inclusive), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Powder Wash (Upper), which is in a Bridgerian channel lag sandstone in the Green River Formation of Utah. It is the type species of Utahia.
