Platanocarpus marylandensis
Taxonomy
Platanocarpus marylandensis was named by Friis et al. (1988) [Holotype: Plate 9, fig. 1 of Friis et al. (1988). Specimen were deposited in the paleobotanical collections of the Field Museum Natural History, Chicago, USA (PP).]. Its type specimen is PP34576. Its type locality is West Brothers locality, which is in an Albian fluvial horizon in the Patapsco Formation of Maryland. It is the type species of Platanocarpus.
