It was assigned to Brutae by Gray (1821); to Diprotodontia by Nowak (1991); to Macropodoidea by Flannery et al. (1982), Flannery and Archer (1984), Flannery and Archer (1987) and Prideaux (2004); and to Macropodidae by Pocock (1921), Burk et al. (1998) and Travouillon et al. (2016).
