G. J. Jordan and M. K. Macphail 2003 | Inflorescence dichasial, bracts fused around each node. Flowers with several bracts appressed to the calyx. Calyx a five-lobed tube. Stamens free, five opposite and five alternate to the sepals. Ovary syncarpous, superior. Pollen a sphaeroidal, periporate monad with nonannulate, circular pores; exine perforate, tectate with clearly visible columellae.
