Taxonomy
Juglans laurinea was named by Lesquereux (1878). Its type specimen is U.C. Mus. Pal. Paleobot. Ser. plesiotype no. 2350 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Phyllites laurinea by MacGinitie (1941).
