It was assigned to Ginkgoales by Lakhanpal et al. (1976), Christophel (1976) and Chandra and Tewari (1991); and to Ginkgoaceae by Knowlton (1919), Knowlton (1926), Lapasha and Miller (1985), McIver and Basinger (1993), McLoughlin et al. (1995), Liu et al. (1996) and Mabberley (2000).
