Taxonomy
Trochodendroides was named by Berry (1922). It is not extant. Its type is Trochodendroides rhomboideus.

It was assigned to Trochodendraceae by Andrews (1970); and to Cercidiphyllaceae by McIver and Basinger (1993) and Liu et al. (1996).
