Taxonomy
Cycadolepis was named by Saporta (1875). It is not extant. Its type is Cycadolepis villosa.

It was assigned to Cycadophyta by Andrews (1970) and Lakhanpal et al. (1976); and to Bennettitales by Chandra and Tewari (1991) and Watson and Sincock (1992).
