Protolonsdaleiastraea was named by Gorskiy (1932) [Sepkoski's age data: C Step P Guad-l]. It is not extant. Its type is Protolonsdaleiastraea atbassarica.
It was synonymized subjectively with Orionastraea by Hill (1956).
