Discocoeniopsis was named by Beauvais (1976) [Sepkoski's age data: J Hett J Sine Sepkoski's reference number: 658,919]. It is not extant. Its type is Montlivaltia nummiformis.

It was assigned to Stylophyllidae by Beauvais (1976); and to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002).
