Echinophyllia was named by Klunzinger (1879) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi R]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Pectiniidae by Wells (1956); to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Lobophylliidae by Dai and Horng (2009).

Synonyms
  • Oxyphyllia was named by Yabe and Eguchi (1935).

    It was synonymized subjectively with Echinophyllia by Wells (1956).
