P4 with a tall paracone, a carnassial notch, and a small anteriorly placed protocone; M1 with the postprotocrista and metaconule absent, a very prominent parastyle, and primi- tively narrow internally; M2 very small and double- or single- rooted; m1 relatively short, with a high trigonid and a low talonid that is restricted externally; m2 double-rooted to absent; I3 very enlarged; auditory bulla with a large posterior accessory cham- ber; suprameatal fossa variably present to absent; posterior carotid foramen close to the posterior lacerate foramen; scapula with a teres process; palate greatly prolonged behind the molars; and a posteriorly projecting paroccipital process (modified from Baskin, 1998a) |
