Leptophyllon was named by Eliasova (1974) [Sepkoski's age data: T Pale T Eo-u Sepkoski's reference number: 658]. It is not extant. Its type is Leptophyllon barocum.

It was assigned to Fungiidae by Eliasova (1974); and to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002).
