Liptodendron was named by Eliasova (1991) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-u]. It is not extant. Its type is Liptodendron grossi.
It was assigned to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); to Faviidae by Baron-Szabo (2006); and to Merulinidae by Kiessling (2021).
