Mycetaraea was named by Pratz (1882) [Sepkoski's age data: J Kimm]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Microsolenidae by Baron-Szabo and González-León (1999); to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Comoseridae by Cairns et al. (2010).
