Pachydendron was named by Cuif (1975) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn-u Tr Nori-l Sepkoski's reference number: 658,919]. It is not extant. Its type is Pachydendron microthallos.
It was assigned to Pachythecalidae by Turnsek (1997); to Scleractinia by Sepkoski (2002); and to Zardinophyllidae by Kiessling (2014).
