Tsagantegia longicranialis

Taxonomy
Tsagantegia longicranialis was named by Tumanova (1993). Its type specimen is GIN AN MNP No. 700/17, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tsagan-Teg, which is in a Cenomanian/Santonian terrestrial horizon in the Baynshire Formation of Mongolia. It is the type species of Tsagantegia. It was considered monophyletic by Vickaryous et al. (2004).

V. M. Arbour and P. J. Currie 2016Uniquely amongst ankylosaurids, has flat cranial caputegulae that are predominantly rhomboidal and trapezoidal. Differs from Saichania and Tarchia in the proportions of the skull (longer than wide), and differs from Gobisaurus and Shamosaurus in the shape of the premaxillary beak (wider and more U-shaped).
