Taxonomy
Enigmosaurus was named by Barsbold and Perle (1983). Its type is Enigmosaurus mongoliensis. It was considered monophyletic by Currie (2000).
It was assigned to Enigmosauridae by Barsbold (1983); to Segnosauridae by Currie (1992), Currie and Eberth (1993); to Therizinosauria by Russell (1997); to Therizinosauroidea by Clark et al. (2004), Zanno (2010); and to Therizinosauridae by Russell and Dong (1994), Currie (2000), Rauhut (2003), Pu et al. (2013).
It was assigned to Enigmosauridae by Barsbold (1983); to Segnosauridae by Currie (1992), Currie and Eberth (1993); to Therizinosauria by Russell (1997); to Therizinosauroidea by Clark et al.
