Campsomeris was named by Lepeletier (1845). It is extant. It is the type genus of Campsomerinae, Campsomerina.

It was assigned to Scoliidae by Zhang (1989); to Campsomerini by Liu et al. (2021); and to Campsomerina by Taylor (2024).
