Taxonomy
Pristinailurus bristoli was named by Wallace and Wang (2004). It is not extant. Its type locality is Gray Fossil Site, which is in a Hemphillian/Blancan sinkhole siltstone/conglomerate in Tennessee. It is the type species of Pristinailurus.
