Arjamannia was named by Peel (1975) [Sepkoski's age data: O Cara-u S Wenl-u Sepkoski's reference number: 797]. Its type is Murchisonia cancellatula.

It was assigned to Ruedemanniinae by Peel (1975); to Lophospiridae by Wagner (1999); and to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002).
