Cercamonius was named by Gingerich (1975). It is not extant. It is the type genus of Cercamoniinae.
It was assigned to Adapidae by Gingerich (1980); to Adapinae by Hooker (1986); and to Cercamoniinae by Gingerich (1975) and Franzen (1994).
