It was corrected as Gastrochaenoidea by Coan et al. (2000), Rosenberg (2005), Bieler and Mikkelsen (2006), Nevesskaja (2009), Bouchet et al. (2010) and Carter et al. (2011).
It was assigned to Myoida by Vokes (1980) and Ward and Blackwelder (1987); to Myina by Newell (1965) and Coan et al. (2000); to Heterodonta by Rosenberg (2005); to Veneroida by Bieler and Mikkelsen (2006); to Unionoida by Nevesskaja (2009); to Heterodonta by Bouchet et al.
