Catopithecus browni
Taxonomy
Catopithecus browni was named by Simons (1989). Its type specimen is CGM 41885, a mandible (right mandible), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Quarry L-41 (Jebel Qatrani Formation), which is in a Rupelian lacustrine mudstone in the Jebel Qatrani Formation of Egypt. It is the type species of Catopithecus.
