Syringopora ripsdorfense was named by Brühl (1999). Its type locality is Dollendorfer Mulde, Gemarkung Bämel, Fundpunkte Br-D 93, 94, which is in an Eifelian reef, buildup or bioherm wackestone in the Freilingen Formation of Germany.
