Shirakiella was named by Kobayashi (1935) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Fran-u Sepkoski's reference number: 464]. It is not extant. Its type is Shirakiella elongata.

It was assigned to Shirakiellidae by Zhu and Wittke (1989); and to Ptychopariida by Sepkoski (2002).
