Taxonomy
Liomopterites germanicus was named by Brauckmann and Willmann (1990). Its type specimen is FMW I.K.1.2a-b, a wing, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Weiterstadt 1 Borehole, Depth 2270. 3 m, which is in a Stephanian C terrestrial shale in Germany.
