Taxonomy
Neoreomys pinturensis was named by Kramarz (2006). Its type specimen is MACN Pv SC 221, a mandible (right mandibular fragment with m1 or m2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Portezuelo Sumich Norte, Pinturas Fm., Lago Buenos Aires, which is in a Burdigalian terrestrial volcaniclastic in the Pinturas Formation of Argentina.
