Gandolfo et al. 2009 | Endocarps obovoid to oval, one seeded, bisymmetrical and granulate; basal stalk centrally or slightly displaced toward the dorsal side; apical beak on the ventral side; stalk and beak always opposite one another; ventral side slightly convex to sigmoid, dorsal side uniformly convex; distinctive internal process subapical near the ventral side, arising no more than one-third the length of the endocarp away from the apex. Seed lobed and curved around the internal process, basal (lower) lobe two and a half to four times larger than the apical (upper) lobe. Germination valve occupying the entire dorsal margin, lid keeled. |
