Phylomylacris chailleti was named by Pruvost (1919). Its type specimen is Mus houiller de Lille 1839, a tegmen, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Lens mines, pit 9, bowette 926, which is in a Westphalian D terrestrial shale in France.
