Taxonomy

Gesomyrmex hoernesi was named by Mayr (1868). It is an inclusion in amber. It is the type species of Gesomyrmex.

Synonyms

Dimorphomyrmex theryi was named by Emery (1905). Its type specimen is BMNH In. 29052, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic amber (BMNH coll), which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in the Russian Federation.

It was synonymized subjectively with Gesomyrmex hoernesi by Wheeler (1929), Spahr (1987) and Dlussky et al. (2009).
Dimorphomyrmex mayri was named by Wheeler (1915). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic amber, Konigsberg collection, which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in the Russian Federation.

It was synonymized subjectively with Gesomyrmex hoernesi by Wheeler (1929), Spahr (1987) and Dlussky et al. (2009).
Gesomyrmex annectens was named by Wheeler (1915). Its type specimen is Konigsberg XXB 1501, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic amber, Konigsberg collection, which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in the Russian Federation.

It was synonymized subjectively with Gesomyrmex hoernesi by Wheeler (1929) and Spahr (1987).
Gesomyrmex curiosus was named by Dlussky et al. (2009). Its type specimen is SMF MeI 11953, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Grube Messel Pit (Senckenberg SMF collection), which is in a MP 11 crater lake claystone in the Messel Formation of Germany.

It was synonymized subjectively with Gesomyrmex hoernesi by Aria et al. (2023).
Gesomyrmex incertus was named by Dlussky et al. (2015). Its type specimen is PIN 3429/1183(1164), an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Bolshaya Svetlovodnaya, Biamo, layer 5 (PIN collection 3429), which is in a Priabonian lacustrine diatomite in the Russian Federation.

It was synonymized subjectively with Gesomyrmex hoernesi by Aria et al. (2023).
