Taxonomy
Heterocoryphodon xuae was named by Tong and Wang (2006). Its type specimen is IVPP V5145, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dahupo, near Zhangwan Village, which is in an Eocene fluvial-lacustrine limestone in the Yuhuangding Formation of China.
