Taxonomy
Olenus frequens was named by Barrande (1868).

It was recombined as Parabolina frequens by Harrington and Kay (1951), Harrington and Leanza (1957) and Pribyl and Vanek (1980); it was recombined as Parabolina (Neoparabolina) frequens by Nikolaisen and Henningsmoen (1985), Tortello and Rao (2000) and Tortello and Clarkson (2008).
