Inanihella sagena was named by Siveter et al. (2007). Its type specimen is OUM C.29594 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Herefordshire Konservat-Lagerstätte, which is in a Wenlock basinal (carbonate) carbonate/volcaniclastic in the United Kingdom.
