Ucayalimys amahuacencis was named by Arnal et al. (2022) [Diagnosis: Slightly smaller than Ucayalimys crassidens. Upper molars with relatively thinner crests and broader flexi than the type species; more reduced protoloph. Lower molars tetralophodont and with a very thin second crest.
zoobank.org:act: 146C1652-68EC-417E-B4D3-D480257895D7]. Its type specimen is CPI-10014 (originally LACM 144299), a set of teeth (left M1 and M2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Santa Rosa (LACM Loc. 6289), which is in a Rupelian terrestrial mudstone/sandstone in the Yahuarango Formation of Peru.
