Sister taxa: Daphoenodon (Borocyon), Daphoenodon falkenbachi, Daphoenodon notionastes, Daphoenodon superbus

Type specimen: F:AM 70801, a skull (crushed skull with complete dentition and associated mandibles). Its type locality is Royal Valley, which is in a Harrisonian terrestrial horizon in the Marsland Formation of Wyoming.

Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore

Distribution: found only at Royal Valley
