Jurapria was named by Rasnitsyn (1983). Its type is Jurapria sibirica. It is the type genus of Jurapriidae.

It was assigned to Jurapriidae by Johnson (1992), Carpenter (1992), Rasnitsyn and Öhm-Kühnle (2020).
