Taxonomy
Arctotypus merifonsensis was named by Nel et al. (2009). Its type specimen is LdLAP 606A, a forewing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is F41, Le Mourrel, Lodève basin, which is in a Kungurian pond claystone/siltstone in the Salagou Formation of France.
