Eoblattidae was named by Handlirsch (1906). It is not extant. Its type is Eoblatta.

It was synonymized subjectively with Stenoneuridae by Carpenter (1992).

It was assigned to Protoblattoidea by Handlirsch (1906), Handlirsch (1911), Handlirsch (1919), Handlirsch (1922), Bolton (1925); to Eoblattida by Aristov (2015); and to Archaeorthoptera by Schubnel et al. (2019).
