Taxonomy
Pantanellium was named by Pessagno (1977) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn-l K Apti-u Sepkoski's reference number: 707]. It is the type genus of Pantanelliidae, Pantanelliinae.
It was assigned to Pantanelliidae by Kiessling (1999); to Pantanelliinae by De Wever et al. (2001); and to Spumellaria by Sepkoski (2002).
