Taxonomy
Solimoea acrensis was named by Kay and Cozzuol (2006). Its type specimen is UFAC-LPP 5177, a tooth (Left lower first molar), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Patos, Rio Acre, which is in a Miocene alluvial fan conglomerate/sandstone in the Solimoes Formation of Brazil. It is the type species of Solimoea.
