Taxonomy
Banksieaephyllum linearis was named by Carpenter and Jordan (1997) [Type Locality: Cethana, Tasmania. Specimens Examined: C-624, C-888, C-846.]. It is not extant. Its type specimen is Holotype: C-624, stored in the Department of Plant Science, University of Tasmania., a leaf. Its type locality is Cethana Dam, which is in an Oligocene lagoonal siltstone/sandstone in Australia.

R. J. Carpenter and G. J. Jordan 1997Leaf linear, entire margined, or with irregularly spaced teeth at the apical end. Cuticle thick, stomates superficially placed. Large diameter trichome bases associated with up to at least eight epidermal cells on the adaxial surface. Subsidiary cells and adaxial surface striated.
