Taxonomy
Adelodonax tectus was named by Saul (1989). Its type specimen is LACMIP 7825 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCLA loc. 3622, Chico Creek, which is in a Santonian marine horizon in the Chico Formation of California. It is the type species of Adelodonax.
