Taxonomy
Cycadites was named by Buckland (1836). It is not extant. Its type is Cycadites megalophyllus.

It was assigned to Cycadaceae by Knowlton (1919); to Cycadophyta by Andrews (1970), Lakhanpal et al. (1976); and to Cycadales by Chandra and Tewari (1991).
