Acarictis was named by Gingerich and Deutsch (1989). It is not extant. Its type is Acarictis ryani.

It was assigned to Hyaenodontidae by Gingerich and Deutsch (1989), Gunnell (1998); and to Sinopaninae by Solé (2013).
