Taxonomy
Leptocycas gracilis was named by Delevoryas and Hope (1971). It is not extant. Its type locality is Leptocycas/Pekin Formation, which is in a Carnian terrestrial shale in the Pekin Formation of North Carolina. It is the type species of Leptocycas.
