Taxonomy
Ampyx costatus was named by Boeck (1838) [= 1835 Trilobites mammillatus, Sars, p. 335, pi. 3, fig. 4a-b, d.]. Its type specimen is PMO 56399, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Cnemidopyge costatus by Nielsen (1995); it was recombined as Cnemidopyge costata by Månsson (1999).
