Conocoryphe applanata was named by Salter and Hicks (1869).

It was recombined as Parasolenopleura applanata by Martin and Dean (1988); it was recombined as Jincella applanata by Fletcher (2006); it was recombined as Brunswickia (Jincella) applanata by Fletcher (2007); it was recombined as Solenopleura applanata by Weidner and Nielsen (2014).
