Taxonomy
Paramyidae was named by Miller and Gidley (1918). It is not extant.

It was assigned to Ischyromyoidea by Wood (1958), Sahni and Srivastava (1976); to Protrogomorpha by Hooker (1986); and to Rodentia by Rose et al. (2012).
